Waterston returns as steadfast District Attorney, his keen mind and moral center making him one of the few people able to keep up with some of the show’s most challenging courtroom opponents. McCoy remains deeply committed to justice, which is an ongoing narrative and theme series-wide.
Detective Kevin Bernard (played by Anthony Anderson)
He also stars as Detective Kevin Bernard, the comic relief but equally-focused counterpart to Fontana. Whether sniffing out cabs or trying to crack the latest case, Anderson’s version of Bernard brings some much-needed humanity to what is a pretty intense and high-stakes look at crime-solving, helping him become one of viewers’ favorite personalities over the years.

Assistant District Attorney Vanessa Blake ~ Aunjanue Ellis
Aunjanue Ellis will stir things up in the courtroom as ADA Vanessa Blake on Law & Order. The role is imbued with a strong sense of Ellison, the actress involved in King Richard and Lovecraft Country, bringing that toky spirit into this legal-centric series.
Detective Ryan Chase — Zachary Levi
Zachary Levi, best known for his roles in Chuck and Shazam!, dips his toe into the Law & Order universe as Detective Ryan Chase. He is a seasoned detective who always sees the details and excels at complicated cases (and also happens to provide casual dating advice for some of his co-workers).
Lt. Marco Hernandez (Damián Becher)
Leading the charge is Damián Becher, who stars as Lieutenant Marco Hernandez. Bichir’s character is a “loving but tough”/serious boss with decades of experience, who gives his team some rough love while going about the business of modern-day policing.

A predominantly non-Christian cast will take part in the 2024 version of Law & Order.
